Inflation remains tame

Stand down, inflation alarmists.

The Labor Department reported this a.m. that the cost of living rose less than forecast in November. This was true even after including the more volatile food and energy sectors.

The numbers:

Consumer Price Index (CPI)- month-to-month change
Consensus: 0.2%
Actual: 0.1%

CPI less food & energy
Consensus: 0.1%
Actual: 0.1%

CPI - 12 Months through November
Actual: 1.1%

CPI less food & energy - Y/Y change
Actual: 0.8%
