Susan Hogan joined the editorial board in December 2010, and wears two hats: editorial writer and digital producer. It’s her second stint with the Star Tribune. She previously worked at the newspaper from 1995-2000 covering agriculture, religion and state issues. In addition, she's been a reporter for the Dallas Morning News, Chicago Sun-Times, the Duluth News-Tribune and The State newspaper in Columbia, S.C. She holds an undergraduate degree in philosophy and religion, three graduate degrees and a Web Developer certificate. One of her graduate projects focused on Muslims in America (long before 9/11). She’s won a range of reporting awards, including top honors from the American Academy of Religion and Religion Newswriters Association. She also earned national honors, including a public service award, for her coverage of the Ku Klux Klan and racial issues in South Carolina. Susan is a native of rural Missouri.
