    Q My building has security cameras at the entrances. The camera footage is broadcast on a TV channel in the building so everyone with a TV can watch people coming and leaving.

  • It's landlord's duty to repair life-threatening stove
    Q I am suffering from carbon monoxide exposure from the kitchen stove. I called my landlord and asked if they had another apartment that I could rent and she said "no" and that I should move out by the end of the week. I'm on a month-to-month lease. Is this legal?

    Q I have a friend who has had a month-to-month lease at the same place for a while now, and he recently moved into a different apartment within the same building. He's on a month-to-month lease.

    Q A tenant signed a one-year lease agreement seven weeks prior to the move-in date. In the beginning of the moving month, the tenant arrived to pick up the key and started looking for different reasons to not move into the unit.

    Q I am on a month-to-month lease for $670 a month. I am buying a home and would like to move out at the end of next month. Unfortunately, I didn't really know if the sale was going through, so I have not given any notice yet.

  • Owner likely is stuck with bill for toilet clog
    Q I rent out a town home that I lived in before I got married. Last night I got a call from my tenants saying that their toilet was plugged. I couldn't clear the clog with a plunger, in part because of the style of the toilet. So today I had to hire Roto Rooter to solve the problem.

  • Dispute over 60-day notice may end in court
    Q One of your recent questions was in regard to "automatic lease renewals" -- specifically the two-month lease renewal. We just had this very issue happen to us although our lease evidently renews on a month-to-month basis.
