I supervise the copy editors who edit the stories and write the headlines and captions that appear in the A and B sections. My blog, Yesterday's News, features stories, photos, graphics and ads culled from the Star Tribune's 145-year-old microfilm archive. "Minnesota Mayhem," a book based on the blog, was published in June 2012.

Before rejoining the night production crew, I was editor, managing editor and news editor for startribune.com from 1994 until 2004. I was copy chief at the Pioneer Press from 1987 until 1993. Before that ... well, that's ancient history, no? I'm a University of Minnesota grad and a Minneapolis native.

If you're looking for the top editor at the paper, that's Nancy Barnes, Star Tribune editor and vice president for news.
