Chris Serres is an investigative reporter with the Star Tribune’s Business section, focusing on corporate corruption, financial misconduct and government regulation of businesses. Serres came to the Star Tribune in 2003 and has written extensively about Twin Cities corporations and the people who run them. Most recently, he reported on how a large specialty finance company managed to avoid regulatory oversight in raising and lending hundreds of millions of dollars to land speculators all over Minnesota. His series on the reckless overbuilding and lending abuse in one Minnesota county is a finalist for a Gerald Loeb award. Serres has written about business topics for 14 years. He previously worked as a banking and finance reporter at the News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C. A native of Oregon City, Ore., Serres currently lives in Minneapolis with his wife and two children.
