Classic Suburban preview

St. Thomas Academy became the first school other than Mahtomedi to win the conference title outright last year since it formed in 2001. The Cadets are now the favorites to garner back-to-back league championships, also only accomplished by Mahtomedi. The Zephyrs and Tartan are the logical choices to possibly prevent the feat from happening in 2007.

This is a conference that prides itself on hard-hitting defense. The Missota champion will again be determined by who wins the battle in the trenches, and defending champion Farmington appears to have the upper hand. Hutchinson and New Prague have the best shot to unseat the Tigers as league champion, and both will benefit by playing Farmington at home.

Classic Lake preview

Wayzata is accustomed to finishing at the top of the Classic Lake. Finishing with a .500 record overall is a different story. After two consecutive Prep Bowl finals, including a state championship in 2005, the Trojans suffered through an inconsistent season a year ago. Don't expect that to happen again.
