Jane Friedmann has been a reporter on the Whistleblower beat since 2009. She also provides data analysis for the Minneapolis team. Friedmann joined the Star Tribune in 1981 and worked as a news graphics artist before becoming a reporter. She was awarded a regional Emmy for her work on the I-35W bridge collapse. Friedmann holds bachelor degrees from the University of Minnesota in journalism and mathematics.

Nurses lose licenses after misconduct

Two nurses submitted fake applications in order to get their licenses. Two others were caught with child porn. Another was accused of giving alcohol to a patient being treated for chemical dependency.

Permits yanked for sales tax debts

A dump truck operator and an auto parts store were the biggest tax delinquents whose permits to collect sales tax were revoked in this year's second and third quarters. These businesses and others collected sales tax from customers but didn't pass it along to the Minnesota Department of Revenue.

Lawyers losing licenses for misconduct

One lawyer stole at least $1 million from his firm. Another used at least $750 in client funds to buy illegal drugs. They and two others were disbarred by the Supreme Court in the first half of 2010. Five more were suspended for their unprofessional conduct.
