Jane Friedmann has been a reporter on the Whistleblower beat since 2009. She also provides data analysis for the Minneapolis team. Friedmann joined the Star Tribune in 1981 and worked as a news graphics artist before becoming a reporter. She was awarded a regional Emmy for her work on the I-35W bridge collapse. Friedmann holds bachelor degrees from the University of Minnesota in journalism and mathematics.

Whistleblower: Area nursing homes cited for violations

One nursing home repeatedly allowed a resident to leave a facility to visit an abusive boyfriend. Another home failed to properly report and investigate many instances of residents' bruises, abrasions and allegations of abuse by staff. Other homes had trouble with cleanliness, odors and flies.
