A free figure-skating clinic hosted by a local club will be held Wednesday at the Burnsville Ice Center.

The Burnsville-Minnesota Valley Figure Skating Club will offer the workshop, which will include instruction, exhibitions by club skaters, treats and prizes, from 5:30 to 6:20 p.m. at the ice center, 251 Civic Center Pkwy.

The club has more than 70 members from across the south-metro area. It also has a junior club for less-experienced skaters who want to work individually with professionals; a synchronized skating team, and a senior club. Club members compete locally, nationally and internationally.

The free clinic is in recognition of the 10th annual "National Skating Month."

Ralphie May will hit the stage March 12

Tickets are now on sale for comedian Ralphie May's show at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. March 12.

May's popularity took off after he appeared on NBC's first season of the "Last Comic Standing" in 2003 -- even though technically he was the next-to-last comic standing.

Since then, he has appeared on numerous late-night talk shows, including four appearances on CBS's "The Late Late Show" and 11 on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
