You know how Pokemon Go works: the game download contains the character elements, displayed for the player's pleasure based on GPS location and time of day. So, why not load a similar game with bird species?
A game with all of Minnesota's regular species, for example. Wander near woodland to find a Swainson's Thrush. Check your neighborhood pond for Mallard, a western Minnesota pasture for meadowlark, in your own backyard for a chickadee. Work hard to find a Least Bittern in a neighborhood marsh. Follow email alerts to find migrating Sprague's Pipits or a Buff-breasted Sandpiper.
It would be the same game played with your established birding knowledge or knowledge acquired as you move along. Play all the listing games: Big Day, Big Year, county list, state list. Audubon should do this, or the American Birding Association, a game for each state, for North America if you want serious play.
I'm not interested in cartoon characters, but birds .....
