Rentals Site And Renter's Reward FAQ

Last update: June 1, 2007 - 2:30 PM

Q: What happened to the Apartments.com site on StarTribune.com?
A: Star Tribune ended its relationship with Apartments.com at the end of May 2007. Renters will now find a more extensive database of rental properties-- 1000+ listings instead of a few hundred. The types of properties listed are broader than before-not just apartments but townhomes, duplexes, and single family homes too. Certainly find large, professionally managed communities as well as owner-occupied ones. And classified ads. Best of all is that you can get paid $125 when you find a new place through StarTribune.com; learn more about the Renter's Reward Program .

Q: Why aren't all the apartments and properties listed on this site eligible for the Renter's Reward?
A: Property owners and managers have choices about the terms under which they list their rental properties on the site, and not all participate in the Renter's Reward program. We've clearly labeled the properties that are part of the program, and you have the option of searching for only eligible properties in the Advanced Search.

Q: How often are the property listings on this site updated?
A: Updates are made each day by 8am Central Standard Time.

Q: Do all the apartment communities and buildings on this site currently have vacancies?
A: Generally, yes. But vacancy rates are constantly changing, and since you might be looking for a place to move in to right away or a few months from now, it's always necessary to visit or contact the property.

Q: Do I have to register on the Rentals site before visiting properties in order to qualify for the Renter's Reward?
A: No. We don't require that you pre-register for the Renter's Reward program or to have a StarTribune.com member account to visit and use the site. You will be asked to register, however, when requesting e-mail alerts from us.

Q: How do I qualify for the Renter's Reward program?
A: Check the Renter's Reward Claim Form so you know what information we'll need from you when you submit your claim for the $125 reward. We encourage you to read the Terms & Conditions for specific qualifications before setting out to visit rental properties.

Q: Who can I contact at Star Tribune if I have further questions about the Rentals site or Renter's Reward program?
A: You may e-mail questions to rentersreward@startribune.com or call us at 612-673-7272, Mon-Fri, 9 am -5 pm.

Q: Will my e-mail address or other personal information be sold or given to anyone other than Star Tribune if I sign up to receive alerts from the Rentals site or submit the Renter's Reward Claim Form?
A: No. Your privacy is important to us. More information and our anti-spam pledge can be found in the StarTribune.com Terms of Use and in the StarTribune.com Privacy Policy.

Q: How can I list my rental property on this site?
