Rentals Terms of Use

Last update: November 18, 2007 - 10:51 AM

That's right. You'll get a check for $125 from StarTribune.com when you sign a new lease for a Renter's Reward eligible property you found on StarTribune.com and meet the terms outlined here. We encourage you to review these terms ahead of using the site and visiting rental properties.

See it.

  • Find your new rental home by using StarTribune.com. Use the site as often as you like and visit as many properties listed on the site as you want to until you find the home that's perfect for you. There's no need to register upfront!
  •

  • Not all properties listed on the site are eligible for the Renter's Reward. But most are, and they are clearly labeled for you. You can also select the "Search Only Renter Reward Eligible Properties" option in the Advanced Search.
  •

  • It's important that the property manager knows StarTribune.com provided you with the information about their property to avoid any delays in verifying your Renter's Reward Claim Form. This is best done in writing.
    • At many properties you'll be asked to complete a guest card when visiting; note on that card that you found the property from Startribune.com.
    • Ask that the property manager include this reference in their own notes.
    • And when you submit a lease application, be sure to note that you were referred by StarTribune.com.

Sign it.

  • Sign a new lease with a Renter's Reward eligible property.
  •

  • Be sure the property manager knows you found them on StarTribune.com. You should have included this on your lease application, but it's a good idea to remind them when you sign the lease, too.
  •

  • Your name must appear on the lease agreement as an occupant. Only one person per lease is eligible to receive the $125 Renter's Reward. For example, if two people share an apartment both names will be on the lease but only one is eligible for the Renter's Reward.
  •

  • You are not eligible for the Renter's Reward under any of the following situations:
    • you've lived at the property before
    • you are renewing an existing lease
    • you accepted another cash back or renter reward for the same property/rental unit
    • you are a current or former employee of the property or property management company
    • you were referred to the property by a means other than StarTribune.com to include referral by a resident of the property or another rental service

Spend it.

  • Submit the Renter's Reward Claim Form within 30 days of signing the lease (regardless of the start date of your lease.) Provide all the required information so we can verify you've found your rental home through StarTribune.com and we know where to send your Renter's Reward check for $125.
  •

  • Only one person per lease is eligible to receive the $125 Renter's Reward. For example, if two people share an apartment, only one is eligible for the Renter's Reward. Only the first claim form we receive and are able to verify will be accepted.
  •

  • Provide only facts on the Renter Reward Claim Form. Upon receipt of your claim form, we will verify that you've signed a lease, the lease date and other information you've provided.
  •

  • Once the information you've submitted on the Renter's Reward Claim form is verified, we'll send you a check for $125. In general you can expect to receive it 6-8 weeks after you've submitted the Renter's Reward Claim Form. You will be contacted if we need additional information or if we're unable to verify or honor your claim.

Additional Terms:

  • The Renter's Reward offer is void where prohibited. This offer may be terminated or amended at any time but all Renter's Reward Claim Forms submitted prior to termination or amendment will be honored provided all other terms are met. Properties may discontinue their participation as a StarTribune.com Renter Reward property per the terms of their agreement with Star Tribune.
  •

  • StarTribune.com can refuse a Renter's Reward claim for any reason, including but not limited to bad faith claims or multiple claims for the same property or lease.
