DNR: Lake Mille Lacs walleye population healthy

DNR fisheries section chief Ron Payer said that despite some worries there's no reason to lower the 2008 harvest of 430,000 pounds. The current regulation for Mille Lacs is that all walleyes 18-to 28-inches must be immediately released, and the possession limit is four.

My brother and I had been out on Lake Winnebigoshish all morning with little success. My brother started catching one walleye after another. This is his big fish of the morning - a 27 1/2" Walleye!

    Walleye fishing can be pretty good here, as can angling for crappies. There’s a chance for a bigger northern pike. Very scenic, with June-like fishing still available, due to the delayed spring and summer.
