Lines are formed outside Twin Cities area Target stores early this morning as music fans waited to get their hands on the Cities 97 Sampler.

About 30,000 copies of the CD went on sale at 8 a.m. and proceeds will benefit local charities.

The CD features 19 tracks featuring artists such as Ryan Adams, John Mayer, Colin Hay, Counting Crows, Shawn Colvin and others. The tracks were recorded live in concert or in the radio station's Studio C.

This is the 19th year the radio station has released the CD, which features singles by a variety of artists. In past years the popular CDs have sold out in minutes. Last year sales raised more than $600,000 for area food shelves, childhood disease research, animal care and community health care programs, said Cities 97 Program Director Lauren MacLeash.
