Three people who attempted to steal items from a Target store in St. Cloud, Minn. Sunday afternoon didn't get away with any merchandise, but still got a ride to jail.
Police arrested the suspects, all from Las Vegas, Nev., after receiving information that at least one of them was using shoplifting tools inside the store at 125 Lincoln Av. SE. The suspects were stopped while driving on the 100 block of 7th Avenue.
One man, 34, was arrested for damage to property, gross misdemeanor theft, possession of burglary tools and a controlled substance violation. A second person in the car, a woman, 34, was tagged for driving with a suspended registration, having an open container in a vehicle and a controlled substance violation. They were taken to the Benton County Jail, police said.
A third person in the car was arrested for allowing an open container in a vehicle, but was later released.
Authorities also found 8.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle, police said.
An investigation is underway, police said.
