YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
Simon Delivers will be back, just under a new name.
St. Cloud-based Coborn's announced Tuesday that it has acquired the home delivery service and will resume bringing as groceries to doorsteps of Twin Cities customers in October.
The service will operate as CobornsDelivers, according to a news release.
Details of the acquisition are not being made public.
When service resumes, metro area customers can reactivate their accounts and access their purchase histories, basically picking up where they left off with their SimonDelivers account, company officials said.
Simon Delivers, which was based in New Hope, abruptly pulled its fleet of yellow trucks from the street in July, citing high gas prices as the reason for closing after nine years. It had about 19,000 customers.
Coborns Inc. owns and operates 34 Coborn's and Cash Wise grocery stores throughout the Midwest and offers home delivery at seven of those locations, according to a news release. The company employs 6,000 people in six states.
