Girl pulled from lake in Crow Wing County remains in critical condition.
A 6-year-old girl pulled from a central Minnesota lake Sunday evening remained in critical condition Monday, Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office Deputy Sgt. Scott Goddard said.
The girl, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to Minneapolis Children's Hospital after she was pulled from Whipple Lake near Baxter, Minn. She had been celebrating her birthday and was swimming with family and friends when she disappeared around 7:35 p.m.
Family members found her a short time later unresponsive in the water about 60 to 75 feet from shore, Goddard said.
"This appears to be a tragic accident," he said.
The girl was taken to a Brainerd hospital before being flown to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.
