The Mississippi River has reopened to commercial navigation near Red Wing after the channel was dredged.
Sediment buildup had caused two tow boats and their barges to go aground Sunday.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recommended the Coast Guard close the channel. The Corps then sent a contractor to dredge the channel.
Corps spokesman Mark Davidson says the dredging was completed, and the channel was reopened at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Recreational traffic was not restricted while the channel was closed.
