Pawlenty jokes on WCCO about his sex life

Last update: May 12, 2008 - 12:43 PM

Minnesota's governor joked about his sex life -- or the lack of one -- on the state's most fabled airwaves over the weekend.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty was joined by his wife, Mary, for the state fishing opener Saturday on Big Pelican Lake in Breezy Point.

The evening before, while they appeared on Mike Max's radio show on WCCO Radio (AM 830), the governor said:

"I have a wife who genuinely loves to fish. I mean, she will take the lead and ask me to go out fishing," he said.

"She loves football, she'll go to hockey games and, I jokingly say: Now, if I could only get her to have sex with me."

He quickly emphasized that the comment was meant as humor, adding, "It's a joke, it's a joke."

In the background, Mary Pawlenty could be heard saying amid the boisterous laughter from Max, "No, sorry, my apologies for my husband ..."
