After receiving the most snow since January 6, the Twin Cities will get a break as snow tapers off today. There's a chance of snow in the afternoon with accumulation of up to one inch and another dusting overnight means many roads will remain slushy and slick.
With forecasted highs in the 40s the next couple of days most of the new snow around the metro should be gone by Tuesday.
Highs today will be around 35 degrees with lows overnight around 20. On Monday, highs will be around 40 with winds increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon.
In the Northwest, a Pacific storm system was expected to slam into the coast, delivering rain to much of the region and snow to the higher elevations of the Cascades.
Rain and thunderstorms were forecast for the Southern Plains, especially in Texas, as a small low pressure system moves into the area. Most of this precipitation was expected to end by the evening.
