Washington County taxes to be topic of public hearing
With a slumping economy as a backdrop, Washington County will hold its Truth-in-Taxation public hearing tonight at the Washington County Government Center in Stillwater. The five-member County Board will hear comments from residents concerning the county's proposed 4.9 percent increase in the property tax levy for 2009. An additional 1 percent would be levied to pay for bonds for the voter-approved open-spaces program, known as Land and Water Legacy.
