A team from the northwest metro is heading to the Little League World Series.

Talor Blustin hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning and Colin Quinn followed with a solo shot to power the Minnesota All Stars, a team from the Plymouth/New Hope Little League Association, to an 8-3 win over the Canyon Lake Little League team from Rapid City, S.D. in the championship game of the Midwest Regional tournament in Indianapolis.

The win for Plymouth/New Hope marks the first time since 2007 that a Minnesota team has advanced to Williamsport, Penn., site of the World Series games that begin Aug. 20.

Plymouth/New Hope used two bases-loaded walks and a wild pitch to grab a 3-0 lead in the second inning. After Canyon Lake cut the lead to 3-1, Blustin and Quinn homered in the fourth to put the game out of reach.

Plymouth/New Hope advanced to Saturday's title game with a 15-2 drubbing of Columbia, Mo. on Thursday. Josh Thorp went 4 for 5 with fourn and Jack McDonough went 3 for 4 at the plate and knocked in four runs. Both players also hit home runs.
